Things to keep in mind while staying online

1) Avoid clicking links when it comes to shopping online.You should not follow search Engines for online transactions.
2) Do Not share any personal or financial information on non secure sites. Your information can be hacked on such sites.
3) You should always personally verify email request when it comes to donate or plans of earning a quick fortune even if it is from a known person.
4) Try to look for your transaction that should be done on an encrypted sites.
5) You should look for "https:" in green color in address bar and a golden lock on the bottom of the screen or with "https:" in the address bar before going for any transaction.This green bar offers immediate reassurance that they have reached a site whose authenticity has been verified by a certificate authority such as VeriSign, the world’s leading EV SSL certifi cate provider.
For eg. try ICICI website.. www.icici.com->Personal login->continue login->look over the address bar.
even with gmail.com. 


7. you should not respond to emails of urgency. This is called phising.


8. you should block all spam emails that you have received.Do not try to to click on their link and display your personal or financial information.


 9. you should regularly login to your online banking accounts to check for any suspicious activity and do not login from any internet cafe. Avod it and try to login from your PC.


10. Avoid syncing your financial passwords with your regular email passwords.


 11. Never store usernames and passwords in Internet Explorer


13. Use an up-to-date anti-virus program, and ask the cyber cafe attendant on a public computer to check the toolbar to ensure it is safe.


14. Always logout from transactional web sites to be sure your safety will not be compromised after you have left the system.


15. Finally, clear browsing history and cookies after your session.
